This bracelet and watchband jewelry making project are made with a relatively simple to make jewelry wire chain. The inspiration for the design of the chain is based upon a chain design that is hundreds and perhaps thousands of years old. The original design was based upon soldering individual links and then connecting them. The original chain has been named the "Money Chain" in Oscar T. Banson's book "Indian Jewelry Making Chain". It was called money chain, because the individual links could be removed and used as money. That money chain required making oval links of wire and soldering the two ends of the wire together. This chain is a variation of that Money Chain that does not require soldering. You can view a close up of two versions of the chain below. We will provide instructions for making both versions of this jewelry wire chain. The chain in the bracelet on the left is the same wrapped chain below, left. The chain in the watchband at right is the same as the chain below-right.
Please note that while these two chains are loosely based upon the Money
Chain design, they are both completely new designs. We went through
several alternative designs before we settled on these two designs.
We think that the results were worth the time it took us to prefect the
design. Hopefully, you will agree.
