Low Wall Bezel Jewelry Wire & Gemstones Earrings Jewelry Making Project -- Page 1

In this jewelry making project, we will make a pair of gemstone earrings.  You can view the earrings on the left and right here.  The earrings on the left use 4mm low wall bezel findings (Item 3480 in gold filled and Item 3481 in sterling silver) and 4mm gemstones set into the findings.  The earrings on the right use 6mm low wall bezel findings (item 3350 in gold-filled and Item 3351 in sterling silver) and 6mm gemstones set into the findings.  The earrings are made almost identically with only one wire component being different.  In the middle gemstone dangle in the earrings, the 4mm earrings use a regular figure 8 connector to connect between the low wall bezel finding and the earring body for all five gemstones.  In the 6mm earrings on the right, the figure 8 connector is used for four out of five gemstones, but on the middle gemstone, we used a small spacer bar to connect between the gemstone and the earring body.  (Please note that the design on the right could be used with 4mm low wall bezel findings if you find that look more appealing.)

We like any jewelry that uses the low wall bezel finding and our "Bling" gemstones.  The gemstones have the fire and sparkle that only high quality beads possess and we believe that the finished product, these earrings, look professionally made and very high quality.  Anytime we can make jewelry that looks like it should sell for a hundred dollars or more and it only takes us 30 minutes to make them, we are happy. 

These earrings are a beginner's jewelry making project.  The jewelry wire components used in making these earrings are rather easy to make.  The one caution is that for a brand new beginner, there are several skills used here.  Each skill is easy to accomplish, but because we use so many skills this design is probably not suitable as your very first jewelry making project.  For beginners we also recommend using 20 gauge wire instead of 18 gauge wire to make the earring body.

Skills Required:

• Ability to cut wire with with a flush cutter.
• Ability to straighten wire with nylon jaw pliers.
• Ability to make a "P" Loop in wire.
• Ability to make an eye loop in wire. 
• Ability to open and close loops to connect jewelry components. 
• Ability to make a spacer bar. 
• Ability to make a jump ring using fine step jaw pliers. 
• Ability to use a WigJig tool to make wire components. 
• Ability to set a gemstone in a low wall bezel finding.
