All of the FREE jewelry making designs and wire tips in WigJig University are in standard web page format (HTML).

Tip #1 - PLEASE BE PATIENT

Please allow plenty of time for downloading and printing.  These files are larger than normal to provide maximum printing quality.  You can see if data is being transferred in Windows by clicking on the icon in the right side of the task bar.

TIP #2 - SET PAGE MARGINS TO .3" IN THE PORTRAIT ORIENTATION

Using the FILE drop down menu and the command "Page Setup", set the left and right margins on your page to 0.3 inches.  Set the top and bottom margins to 0.3 inches also.  All pages are designed to be printed in the Portrait orientation.  After completing your Page Setup use the FILE drop down menu and the "Print Preview" command to view your printed page.  For some of our web pages you will want to print only page one of two, as the information on page 2 of 2 will be web navigation information only.

TIP #3 - USE A CURRENT BROWSER

These web pages were designed to print using Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher and Netscape 4 or higher.  If you have problems printing, we suggest you upgrade to these free browsers.  In many cases, this will solve your printing problems.  There now a new, free browser that is becoming very popular.  It is Mozilla Firefox.  You can dowload this free browser here.  In most cases, use of Firefox will resolve all printing problems.

TIP #4 - PRINT A SELECTION OF THE INFORMATION ON THE PAGE

With many of the modern web browsers you have the option to Print a selection on a page.  To do this, use your mouse to highlight the portion of the page you want to print then select the drop down menu command "File" followed by the command "Print".  In the box that appears, select the button associated with the word "Selection".  This will print only that portion of the page that is highlighted.  We suggest printing from the start of the applicable text on the page to the page number for the page.  This captures the meat of the page and eliminated the Internet header and footer that don't add to your printed page.  This won't work for all pages in our web site but it should work for most.  If this doesn't work proceed to tip #5.

Tip #5 - TO PRINT FULL PAGES, TURN ON "FIT TO PAGE", THEN PRINT

Many printers have a setting called "Fit to Page".  Normally this setting is "Off".  To turn this setting on, you first view the page you want to print, then select "File" then "Print" from the drop down menus.  This will open the Printer dialogue box.  With IE 6.0, look for a tab labeled "Layout" and select this tab.  Within this tab, select the button "Advanced".  Look for the menu item "Fit to Page" and set this item to "letter" or "yes".   Select "OK" and return to the "General" Printer dialogue box.  Select "Print" and cross your fingers.

TIP #6 - IF YOU STILL CAN'T PRINT A FULL PAGE, Try This (It works most of the time):

If you still have problems printing the entire page, (some printers cut off the bottom of the page), then try placing your mouse in the center of the text/graphics of the page and right click with your mouse.  With Windows programs this will bring up a menu.  Select "Print" or "Print Picture" from this menu.  For many of our web pages this will resolve the problem.

TIP #7 - IF YOU STILL CAN'T PRINT A FULL PAGE, SAVE THE PAGE THEN PRINT

If you still have problems printing the entire page, (some printers cut off the bottom of the page), then try downloading (saving) the file on your computer before printing.  This is done by viewing the page you want to save, then selecting "Edit" then "Select All" from the drop down menu.  When the entire page is highlighed, then select "Flle" and "Save As".  Save the file to a location on your computer and with a name you will remember.

After downloading, open the file on your computer, and print as in step 4 above.

TIP #8 - CHANGE ISP CONNECTION FROM AOL

Several of our customers have noted that they have difficulty downloading our files when using an AOL account.  If possible, we suggest you try a non-AOL internet connection if you experience problems with your AOL account.

TIP #9 - CONSIDER DOWNLOADING FREE HP SMART WEB PRINTING SOFTWARE

HP makes free software available that can support "smart" printing and allows selecting portions of web pages for printing.  You can view information on the software or download the software by selecting here.
