Step 20 to 3 Strand Jewelry Wire & Beads Necklace-- Jewelry Making Project

Step 20:  Using bead stringing wire, make three strands of beads.  Use bead stoppers or hemostats to hold each end of the strands so that your beads won't fall off of your bead stringing wire.  The shortest strand should be 16 inches long.  The middle strand should be 20 inches long and the longest strand should be 24 inches long.

Step 21:  Now that you have your strands of beads, you need to connect the strands of beads to one of the loops in your 3:1 wire component.  There are several ways to do this.  The first way is to use crimp beads and bead crimping pliers.  You can view how to use crimp beads here.  A second way to do this is to use jewelry wire to use jewelry wire to make a connector between the bead stringing wire and the 3:1 connector.  Our instructions for using wire to make an end connector for bead stringing wire begin here.   (Please note that because of the nature of this necklace, with three strands connecting into the 3:1 wire component, we do not recommend using 22 gauge wire, we recommend using 24 gauge wire.  We also do not recommend using end cones to hide the wire.  With the smaller, 24 gauge wire, we recommend leaving the wire exposed as shown in the picture below.  Finally, in the sample necklace shown here, we used a new approach with 24 gauge wire making a loop at the end of each strand of beads.  We are going to describe this approach in a new series of web pages, but will have to develop those pages in the next month.

Step 22:  The final step in making this necklace is to connect the single loop in the 3:1 connector to your clasp.  In the picture above you can see that we made this connection using 24 gauge wire and a wrapped bead link.  You can find our instructions for making a wrapped bead link by selecting here.
